Sweep Speed

Frank L

Member
As a newbie MXT user, I can find no definitive info on sweep speed--should I whip the coil, go snail-like or the proverbial 2 ft per sec? You long-time users and veteran coin-hunters (with the MXT)-help me out here. Frank L-TX

I seem to do well more or less in the middle. Not slow, definitely not whipping, but just a smooth 2-3 feet per second or so easy, steady motion.

Are you new to detecting, or just the MXT?

Where do you hunt the most?

Sometimes in heavy trash I sweep even slower than you mentioned. At times I move the coil less than 1 foot. That's the only way to get target separation.

The way I figure, those coins (and fliptops) aren't running from the coil, so what's the hurry?
