Sweep Speed Adjustment

The Vision's coin and coin & jewelry programs seem to use a fast sweep speed setting. I have become accustomed to a slower sweep speed and would like to use a slower sweep speed with the Vision.

I've noticed, especially for in-air testing, that if you use a slow sweep speed, the sizing feature is not accurate. It reports that the target is larger than it really is.

Question: What combinations of settings will allow me to sweep the Vision slower and retain accurate sizing reports?

Thanks!

I think I answered my own question. I air tested the results on my lunch break. For a slower sweep speed in mineralized ground, use the 5HZ/High filter. This seemed to enable me to sweep the coin back and forth over the center of the coil at the same speed as I would on my Explorer II and registered smoothly every time. I linked the search and analyze filter settings together so that the analyze reports would reflect the slower sweep speed as well. It helped quite a bit.

That is the way to do it Wes. You also may want to "play" with the Recovery Delay setting along with the Filters. The best way to test, is to find a deep target and "play" a while or plant a dime deep in your test garden. Take one adjustment at a time that you think might help and find what gives you the best tone at a comfortable swing speed and yields the best depth. Good luck with your new Vision.

Also... You can adjust the Analyze options Rate and Sweep Speed to make the sizing screen very accurate, regardless of any reasonable sweep speed.

I use Rate =2 and Sweep Speed = 4. this setting seems to work better than the factory defaults.

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try.

I haven't gotten out to try this yet, but that's what I was thinking should make my Tone ID delay issue go away (a slower filter rate). I too am use to a slower sweep rate with my SE Pro and E-Trac. So may I ask how do you find the delay times compare now between the EXII and Vision regarding the Target Encountered to Tone ID Output delay? Thanks.

Very interesting that the Analyze function is adjustable too.

The slower sweep speed settings allow me to move the coil almost as slowly and minutely as what you can with the Explorer II, with no delay. The cool thing is that you can still sweep the coil faster than I would recommend with the Explorer and maintain favorable results.

For very, very slow and subtle sweeps, I think the Explorer may have the advantage... at least when compared to the settings I've tested with the Vision thus far.

I would not necessarily consider this an advantage in the field, but more so a matter of personal preference.

Awexome! Good to know alric. Now today is going to be nice and sunny, and I'm home, sick as a dog. Hopefully by 3pm I'm all better! Wishful thinking perhaps, but I want to get some more time on the Vision.
