Sweep and signal variation

Only had machine for a month.but seem to notice alot of variation on my sweep signal, for some reason when going right to left i can grab a good signal but on backswing left to right it seems to break up,have been using it in c and j mode alot but today went to prospeting mode and when got prob of 10-30% would switch to c and j..just to see if good signal but still some erratic signals on backswing, if i go very slowly it seems better..but im talking real slow..so not sure if im swinging to fast or perhaps cause im left handed..i know...but us leftys are a rare breed..lol...but did plant a coin and does same thing..good signal right to left..erratic left to right...too fast a swing or maybe an uneven swing on follow thru..any info I thank you...Curt.

Hi CURT, if you have an extra coil put it on and try it. If not see if you have a friend or dealer near by and borrow their coil and test with it on. You may have a loose coil wire or
the coil may be loose in it's casing. Fortunately, I haven't had that problem. Maybe someone else can make a suggestion about it also. GL HH GB. KC

If there are no nearby metal targets to mask or alter a nice-and-proper round target (coin) signal (with the coin laying 'flat-to-the-coil,') then as a rule your more uniform Concentric coil designs will not display this phenomena quite as much as the Double-D (Wide-scan) types.

Am I saying the concentric coils are "perfect?" Certainly not because they, too, will display some subtle variations based upon the side of the coil' where the cable is entering the coil housing, the placement of "pick-up" or "tuning wires, etc. However, this trait is one I generally attribute to Double-D coils.

The target presentation into the generated EMF is different one direction than the other with a Double-D due to one side being a Transmit winding and the other the Receive winding. This is also part of the reason why wide-scan coil designs generally are not quite as reliable (aka: don't discriminate as well) as a concentric design when hunting trashy sites, especially iron (magnetic) based junk.

Then again, you did say you're left-handed.
