survey stakes

My wife and I just bought a piece of subdivided property that was surveyed in 1970. The Surveyor drove rebar stakes in the ground in the four corners of the property. I looked for those things a few times last year for hours at a time busting through tree limbs and bushes. Of course I measured my property a <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> nd had an approximate idea of where the corners were. We are getting ready to build a cabin though and I wanted to know where the exact corners were. I considered hiring a surveyor. Long story short I went out there yesterday with my MXT and found every corner in about a half hour. They were all buried about 5 inches down in moss and dirt. Saved me the price of a surveyor. Alright.

That's Good News. I know how you feel. I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity some and they needed to find their boundaries and survey stakes on a home site where they will build. They tried finding them by digging, but had now luck. But, it didn't take long with my detector to find the first stake and then, by doing some measuring like you did, we soon found the four corners. Now I get to hunt the site. A great experience. Bob C.
