:surrender: Need Help on Scoop Length

Pepper54

New member
I plan on going detecting on the beach in about a week. I want to get a kick type sand scoop that I can use mainly for wet sand, but probably will use for dry sand too. I am 5'6" tall, and I need advice on how long of a handle I should get on the scoop. I hope to get a 6 inch diameter scoop. I am not real strong like you guys are, so I am aiming at something fairly lightweight. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I suggest you get the longest one as its easier to cut to size once you try it rather than get one that is too short, the two i have on the diamondhead, i find the longer one best

Smells like Peppa up in here! (SNL skit that has yet to be repeated)

Hi Pepper54,

You should definitely look into the Diamond Head scoop. http://www.nuttallenterprises.com/servlet/Detail?no=1 There is a 40" and a 48" scoop. I am 6 feet even, and have the 48" fiberglass handle. It is a very sturdy scoop and will last for years. It is not the lightest scoop out there, but after looking at all of the long handle scoops available, this is the one that stood out and practically sold itself to me!

Good Luck!
