Found on Sunday at my old elementry school I attended in 68&69 the school was built in the late 50's.I've hunted the tot-lots there about once a month for the past year."Excellent Clad location"Sunday I wondered away from the bark chips".about 10 yards" and got a solid quarter signal 4" down.after digging the hard packed red clay I saw the edge and new it was Silver.I was thinking 1960s or 50s but when I saw the date I was Shocked.Just did'nt expect it to be that old.I know it's just a common date but it's only my 3rd Silver Quarter.Needless to say I'll be spending allot more time outside the bark chips and sand. Thanks for looking

Coins circulate for a long time, coming and going. Most of the coins in your own pocket average between 8 and ten years old.
It is not uncommon to find 1965 quarters and dimes... 44 years old! I find Nickels from the 40's often, too.

But finding silver with a detector is a special treat. Good for you.
