I went back to an old farmhouse site up the street where I found the 1902 IH, 42 Merc and 40 Washington before. I decided to use my CZ-70, hunt slowly with 50% overlap and just enjoy the nice day. The first signal was kind of iffy in the iron but I got a repeatable Zinc reading between 4-6 inches. After digging through the pine roots for awhile sure enough there was an IH there but it was too coated to read the date. After a peroxide bath, sure enough, a somewhat worn 1865 IH, my second oldest to my 1864. Later, I got another good very repeatable Zinc reading at 4 inches, this time a 1903 IH. Also dug, 50-S and 1940 wheats. I do have an Explorer II which is a super machine but I still like my CZ-70 the best. I have a CZ-3D too but again the CZ-70 is still my favorite. I do agree with Dan PA that it's good to be able to use several different machines proficiently since each machine has it's strengths(and weaknesses). I'm going to go back over the same area with the 3D just to see if it can pull anymore out of there. I've hit the same area with the Explorer as well before, I just have a hard time going as slow as you need to, to hear the different targets well in all the iron. Alot of guys do it very well, but I'm still not sure if it's my cup of tea since I usually have a very limited amount of time to hunt...HH
