I'm near Cape Giradeau Mo.I grew up near a small town of Chaffee Mo. We lived in the woods swinging grape vines and hunting caves and hunting junk piles etc.. What a way to grow up

Wow, I wonder if we have ever met? I graduated in 1953 and have lived in and near St. Louis, MO ever since! You've done exactly what my brother and I did when growing up near Bunker, MO on Upper BeeFork Creek! We liked caves, the woods, hunting and fishing and playing games that we made up for ourselves! We crossed the creek on a foot log, barefooted! Help garther and can veggies and worked in the fields and garden and milked cows before catching the school bus at 7:00 am....sure had to get up early to get everything done before the bus came to pick us up for school at Bunker Grade and High School! Lots of memories! My youngest daughter works at Cape Giraradeau cleaning rooms at the Victorian Inn and lives 10 miles farther south at Benton, MO! My oldest daughter is a hospice nurse and lives with her husband and youngest daughter and two grandsons at Ste, Genevieve! My son lives in Lemay...five miles from me...and works ever since he left home but did live in Ellington and Van Buren for awhile where my ex's family lived and some still do! Sure a small, small world isn't it?? My prayers are for God's blessing and healing touch for complete deliverance from cancer in Jesus' precious name! Amen! Ma Betty

I'm typing almost one handed so forgive my penmanship..Yep sound like you grew up in the good old days Mine was probably a little latter than you.. I was born in 1959 poor and still poor I work at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape.. Never wore shoes in the summer and walked everyone without a fear of bad people or being on someone elses property.. You ate what you shot and family would gather together and the women would can the fruits and veggies and the men would butcher and cure the meat..
To be honest I was a kid for most of this and times changed as I grew older... We even only had an outhouse until I was 6 years old..Thanks for letting me rethink those days that I survived and get my mind off of my situation at this time...

Glad you are home and tolerated surgery fine. My father in-law had his prostate removed due to cancer about 9 yrs ago and has had no further problems. May the Lord grant you complete healing according to his will.

Glad it went well. I will be praying for a speedy and easy recovery.

Hi Steve thanks for replying to my post! Yes, we are poor kids from the sticks and know how to do things to make a half-decent living, although it has been several years since having my own backyard garden and doing some canning! Wish my sister and I could be on the same land and have a garden...she tries but where she lives 15 miles below Rolla, MO by I-44 the land isn't very good for growing things, as it is too rocky and hard to plow and hoe! She is 11 years younger than I am and can still do what I seem to be able not to do any more! I helped take care of her and her brother (twins) while I was still at home....they were born in 1946! My oldest daughter was born in 1956 and my son was born in the same year as you...1959! Tami, my last child (my baby) was born in 1968 when the first two were much older! I have a great-grandchild that is 15 years of age and that makes me feel really, really old! Time sure flies and I can't believe the year is almost half over...by the time we turn around it will be Christmas again! May God Bless you and yours! Keep on, keepin' on for Jesus and keep believing faith in that He is healing you and then you will be able to serve Him even more than maybe you ever have before! Amen! Ma Betty
