surfmaster pi

I am new to the hobby & would like to ask the more experieced metal detector whether I can swim with this detector or is it only for shallow water. I was reading a atricle which seemed to say that the person was swimming under water with his surfmaster. Is this a particular model or can you adapt this one to go under water, as i like the idea of going swimming & looking for things on the beach.
Does any one know the answer ? Plus I read on this forum that I could up date my surfmaster pi to a pro, how does this change the way you use it ?

The Surfmaster PI is a machine that you can dive with.

Mr. Bill does the modification to enhance the Surfmaster PI. From what I've read, a modified Surfmaster PI may edge out a Surf PI Pro. Here's a link to his site...

The older Surfmaster PI that Mr Bill modified is very sensitive to deeper gold and absolutely out performs my newer PI Pro. I have an Excal 1000 and it is OK if you want to do a quick hunt and not dig a lot of junk. However, I have around 14 really nice diamond rings and all of them were found with the Surfmaster PI Pro. The Mr Bill modification is worth every dime. With shipping and everything will run around $100 or so. Do it, you will love it.
