Surfmaster PI Pro vs Minelab Excalibur which goes deeper?

Hi I was wondering which goes deeper in the surf and beach hunting? Does the Surfmaster PI Pro go deeper than the Minelab or are they about the same for depth? Just curious because I want to get another machine but wanted something that goes deep!! Is the Minelab very hard to use? I really like the simplicity of the Surfmaster PI but sometimes finding junk can be a little disappointing but do you lose depth when using discrimination with the Minelab? And does it still null out iron if the discrimination is turned way down? Hope to hear some suggestions to my questions!! Aloha

I own them both and my PI PRO goes deeper than my Excal...

Edited to add if you add a bigger coil to the Excal then it could be as deep but not stock...

The Detector Pro HeadHunter PI is a deepy as well and a good detector my hunting partner is killer with his..

:thumbup:then the PI PRO is the best choice...I have heard many times due to volcanic particles in sand EXCAL has problems there.....you might want to check this out

I don't dig anymore junk with my PI that I dig with my Excalibur in the wet sand.. If you learn the tones of your detector like I have then you can tell when you are over iron or hotrocks, bobbiepins and nails...

I'm starting my 3rd year water hunting and here is just 1 box of my stuff found with my PI, I have 2 more of these ring cases..

The best hunter I kow of in Hawaii and I should add that he's one of the best hunters I know of anywhere has a PI machine but his weapon of choice is the CZ20. This pirate finds loot in a week that most of us would be happy to find in a season. The big difference isn't the machine but the pirate behind the machine, as you said Craig. Learn your machine and learn your beach, then it will give up the loot.

Hi danny what you will find is if you get the excal it operates the same as the sovereign soooooooooo what i do is leave the disc alone { lowest setting] and it will give you a low tone over junk and a good hi tone over goodies simple and you can use the 15" wot coil which gives much deeper signals, now here is the best part use the excal in all metal it goes deeper, then when a signal happens switch it over to disc and presto!!! maybe a high tone dig dig dig , after a while you will be able to name the coin{target] before it comes out.terry aloha
