Surfmaster Dual Field under water question

I am researching metal detectors to use while diving - I like Whites new Surfmaster Dual Field but I am concerned with the "Threshold" tone while wearing my wet suit hood and the bubble noise. I understand that one would like the threshold as low as possible and listen for the tone to "Drop out". Can this be a problem or is there a solution. Oh, this will be my fist MD! If I got some info messed up, please help me out. NEWB...

I did it - my Surf Dual Field will be here in a few days (Some times a few days is a few too many). I am really looking for on-line information to use with my PI. In my location the book stores and retailers do not cater to this hobby. I have to drive a distance to get to a retailer that sells Metal Detector equipment, I hope this works to my advantage when I head to the Surf. Right now I am like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for my MD. I may even take a day off from work to venture out and start using it. I need to get an Air fill too. I am now looking into the Dive shaft for the new metal detector - any ideas on a home made unit? I should have included when I place my order.

Order a dive rod from White's. I put both of my White's PI on them. About forty bucks each.
