Surf & Sand

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking to buy a partner for my MXT-water and sand-wet & dry. Been looking at White's BeachHunter ID 300 and
the Surf PI Dual Field. It'll be used in shallow water-fresh & salt water. I'd like to stick with White's since the MXT has
been pretty good to me so far. Anybody have any experience with these two water detectors? Appreciate any advise.

Have not used either, but I have a PI detector and other detectors. I would lean towards the Beach Hunter ID because if you are doing fresh water beaches and want to do some dry sand work too, you want something that can give you more information about iron than you get with a PI.

I really like the PI in the real wet salt sand and water areas; but not so much in fresh water where the iron doesn't decompose as fast.
Cheers,
tvr

I'm happy with my Beach Hunter ID 300... mostly hunt beaches, sand bars, and shore line of Suwannee River. Occasional trips to Gulf Coast, infrequent trips to Atlantic Coast, hunt everything from knee-deep to the bluff. Today's find was 18"-.925 silver chain, (Suwannee, sandbar, knee-deep water) and a few bottle tops. (shore line) There is so little mineralization here that ground balance could be set at "neutral" and then ignored. Sensitivity at "preset" or above... detector is basically turn on and go. Discrimination mode, trust sounds and lights... all-metal mode, trust lights. (Red is iron, dig everything else... )
