I need some help. I have been doing well with this machine but today was going for some deep stuff and if I didn't find it in two scoops I would loose it. I tried to pinpoint but this coil is now driving me nuts is there a trick to using this coil for pinpointing. I am used to the center of my mxt to pinpoint this coil on This machine does not do that because of the two in on coil HELP...........

and this will work on any coil
1.Get a paint stick
2. superglue a coin to the top at the end of the stick about 1 inch from the end
3. turn on the machine and ajust just as you do at the beach
4.but the machine on a chair/table away from any metal
5.hit the pinpoint button and put the stick with the coin under the coil till you find were the coin is when
you have it pinpointed and then mark the top of the coil so you will know were the coils reading
the coin in pinpoint mode
You can mark the spot with paint,,,,a good sticker ever a plastic tiewrap will work and after you have used the coil awhile and get to know that spot
on the coil even after the paint wears off

Thanks I have done this on my mxt but on the Surf master DF PI there is no pinpoint switch this is my probelm.

I use an imaginery cross method and with the strongest signal(as a line) and its then in the centre of the inner coil more or less, you should be spinning round the target anyway to posibly eliminate double beeps(nails/boobies)

Thanks for the tip been trying to learn this dam machine but getting tired of digging junk oh well arms are getting bigger thanks again

think that reading Clive Clynicks books will help you a lot. I'm a newbie and his books have opened up a world of information that has helped wih my PI PRO, which also has no pinpoint mode. Just search him on google, under "Clive James Clynick"

One reason for lost signals with the PI are due to Bobby pins and the like. Fix a magnet in your scoop with araldite or cable ties you will be amazed at the amount you collect and those lost signals will be less too.
