Everyone agrees the Garrett ace 250 would be good for a newbie. I have been detecting around and found a what seems to be a pretty good deal. It's at "Kellyco Metal Detecting Superstore". Has anyone had dealings with this store?

Thanks Bill

yea, walmart, burger king and dunkin donuts got together and created kelly co.its remarkable what 3 heads can do when they put their heads together. if you call kelly co. and ask for luci fur she'll give you a coupon for 30 percent off of your 1st order.

Did you have a bad experience with that company, what's the deal. They were offering the 250 for $212 and throw in the Automax v4 pin pointer List $140 plus accessories. Can you be more specific about your remarks, this seems like a pretty good deal if there isn't shadiness involved. I really want to now Truth about who I'll dealing with so put the cards on the table so I can make a educated choice.

Thanks Bill

Support someone who sells the detectors and not mass merchants.

There are several dealers on this forum like Joe DeMarco, Dixie Metal Detectors etc. Or check locally in your area. You will be happy you did when you need help or something happens to your detector...

Hex, I purchased mine over a year ago from kellyco, and also got the precision 2 pinpointer. Both work fine. I have also purchased the 4.5" and 12" coil from them with no problems. Yes if you have a local dealer close by it is best to support them, but if not, I wouldn't hesitate to use kellyco again.

i bought the same deal you are talking about and its good-- i am brand new about 10 hours and i have 52 coins i got my 1st silver 1962 D---Dime on my 5th hunt i also bought the sniper coil and i use it the most if your new its great and when you get it go to www.garrett.com and tell them you just bought a 250 from KC and ask them for a free instruction DVD on the 250 and they will send it and its good too good luck p.s. the V4 pinpointer works great i use it every hunt also

Kellyco is okay but you might check with some of the dealers sponsoring the forums. They also offer freebies.

I never had any problems with the service. I must admit, they go to some great lengths to promote detectors, but if you know what you want, you can find some deals there. Throwing in an electronic pinpointer free is a bonus.

Stick to your local dealer. He's in the best position to offer service after the sale as well as demo and training before the sale.

Regarding Pin Pointers... the %#$%^# Pin Pointer breaks down.... after the third time, those expensive shipping costs add up.

Go for a quality pin pointer like the Sun Ray which actually interfaces with your detector's circuit.

I just spent about 2 hours training two guys on metal detecting and answering their questions etc. One got the sun ray probe. !#!@#$!@$ will not spend that amout of time.....

As stated in numerous forums, for the most part, they are order takers. When it comes to the finer points of the hobby, order from a qualified dealer, an actual hobbiest who is going to take you out and 'show you the ropes' and I don't mean the ropes of frustration.

@$#%@% has turned to bundling, offering lots of 'freebies' which are stuck with an over-inflated price.

Stick to the Sponsering Dealers, Your Local Dealer but make sure they are there for the follow-up information and service.

Also.... becareful of their last second Bait and Switch.... it may not be in your best interest.
