SUPER SIFTER

Hi Gang,

Over the years I've built and used a variety of sifters to help me find those pesky little bits of metal that can drive a hunter up a wall and to speed up the hunting process.

I find that the more aged this old body gets the easier I want the hunting to be.

My system includes locating the target, digging the target and dumping the results in my Super Sifter. (Thanks to kaptainkosmic for his input!!)

For a find to escape it must pass through one of hundreds of 3/16Th's holes in the sifter (it hasn't happened yet!!).

I have put a large holed Garretts sifting screen inside to act as a rough sorter to allow the coarse material to be quickly examined and dumped out of the way of my Vibra-Probe if the target is not there.

The white part is the flat bottom of a large plastic barrel (very durable).

I put a tether on a large brass snap to hook to my wader belt and and 8 or 9 foot long cord to about a pound of lead sinkers to keep the sifter from getting in the way.

Heavy surf will make this combo difficult if not impossible to use.

Where I hunt most of the time that is a non-issue.

I'm glad to finally be able to have you see a hunting tool that works for me.

GL&HH Friends,

Hey Cupajo, I LIKE IT!

I have other sifters but will build one like that too! The removable green pan seems like a really good idea (just flip out the heavy stuff real quick)!!!!!

Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clapping:

Cupajo the small pan in the large pan is a great idea also! Do you have it tehtered somehow to prevent it from accidentally floating away?

Dude just how many days did it take to drill a gazillion 3/16 holes anyway?

Gonna have to try both those ideas!

sb :)

Hey Fellow Hunters,

There is a short tether that allows tossing the smaller pan to the off side out of the way when it has completed it's task (it isn't very clear in the pic). I'll try another to clarify (with deminsions).

Also I use the snap to clip the weights and the inner pan together for carrying (to avoid getting tangled in the cords).

Works great!!

By drilling the holes from the bottom side and leaving some of the resulting burr, I am able to scrub the clay-like sand over it like a scraper to quickly break the stuff down and clear it away.

I hope these ideas help you sifter users.

These Pics should give a better view of how I rigged the combo for use and carrying.

The white pan is 4" deep and 19" in diameter on the bottom with a slight taper to the top

The Poor Man's Backhoe fills the green pan completely and the pan must be kept to the near side of the white pan to keep from losing the load over the off side as that side is poorly floated and will swamp!!!

It's availible from Garrett and most detector dealers have them or can get them.

Another is used in reloading ammunition and can be purchased where reloading equipment is sold.

Cupajo
