Garrett Metal Detectors should be moving into their new building soon, so this years fall issue of the SEARCHER is special. Your photos and/testimonials might also be used in an ad or next years catalog.

The contest will finish on Tuesday, September 11, 2007. You must have a photo of a find from this year from a site with permission if not on public property. It must have been found with a Garrett Metal Detector. I will collect all eligible names and put them in a hat and one of my kids will do the draw, so the best photo doesn't have any advantage. Three prizes will be drawn on 3 forums. Each forum will give away one set of Garrett Treasure Sound Headphones and two copies of.... "HOW TO FIND LOST TREASURE" by Charles Garrett.

One prize per household only, but you may enter on all 3 forums if you like. Have fun and good luck!

I was out in January detecting for some birds, when one chickadee detected my detector. One of my best finds for the year. :)

This neat little sterling frog ring was found with a Garrett Ace 250. It is the first ring I found with my new detector and registered as a half dollar. I found it right at the end of my first what I would call serious hunt as I was beginning to learn the intricacies of the unit. It was a tough recovery as it was lodged in a crack between the roots of a large elm tree near the main field of our local ballpark. The mother of one of the boys, who was practicing baseball, kept looking at me and shaking her head so when I found it I walked over to her and asked if she wanted to see what I had spent so much time looking for. She said, "It's a frog and it's so cute! Would you like to sell it?" Special because it was ring number one and because the woman's opinion of the hobby changed so quickly when she saw the treasure that could be found and because it's just so dang nice!

Chris

The quarter is for reference and was my first silver coin find.

I found this 14K ring at a park near San Luis Obispo, Ca. with my Garrett Ace 250. At first I thought it was a class ring. After a search on the net, I found out it was the seal of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC - Missionarie del Sacro Cuore). I emailed a person through a website and a Nun from Mexico responded. She said it was a ring a Nun receives when they take their final vows. She lead me to another site for this particular order. After sending 1 email a week for a month with no reply, I gave up trying to find the owner. Maybe one of you will see this and give me some new information on how to get this back to the original owner.

Check this out awhistler. Found on a street corner under a stop sign near a Catholic church. Date is 1949. Womans ring around size 5 1/2, about 7 grams. Word under the ship is commerce. Sure resembles your ring. It is my second gold ring find but not with my Ace 250. I had planned on selling it to defray the cost of my 250 but kept it. Not sure that "commerce " applies to a nun in any way. Sorry about the dirt. Never noticed it until I photographed it.

I hope my response to awhistler in this thread doesn't cause confusion. I already entered the contest with a different item.

I found this belt Buckle in a public school yard in Nashville, Tennessee. I found it with the :garrett:ACE 250 It was found within' 100 yards of were a hunting buddy found a Civil War Bullet. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Staunton Academy had been around since 1860. The school is in Staunton Virginia. Why would a buckle from there be in Nashville? Well guess what on the back was the guys name and address who owned the buckle. He was form Philadelphia. Now I am really confused. I have called the school (it closed in 1976). They have no record of the guy. I have contacted the school where it was found. He's not there. I found 1 guy in Philly that is 93 years old.I cannot get in contact with him. I have enjoyed the research, the contacts and the pure speculation of why this buckle was where it was. To me that is the true enjoyment of this great hobby we share. (By the way if anybody has any information about Philly or the school, let me know. As a side note the school is being torn down this year)

I found this 18ct Gold/Sapphire/Diamond ring just along the 3rd base fence line at a local baseball field. My husband had already covered this area with his non-Garrett machine. He claims he was just listening for "high pitched" (good) signals and that's why he overlooked it as trash. My GTI-2500 told me I should dig this one, and I'm glad I did! We had it appraised at $1200-$1600!
Thanks, Sarah H.

Everyone so far has some excellent finds posted! Good going guys!

I got my Garrett ACE 250 just 4 days ago. My first day I pulled out the ace to get used to pinpointing and differentiating targets. I started in the backyard of my mom's house that was built around 1870. After finding a little clad here and there, an old toy car, along with a few wheat pennies I made my way around toward the front walkway of the house. I got a strong signal and began to dig- and dig and dig. At an incredible 14" of depth, the little ace located a brass 1870's "push-key" padlock in pristine condition. I could not believe that with zero previous experience, less than an hour from turning the machine on for the first time I was holding a relic nearly 140 years old!! I am incredibly happy with this little detector!
