Super batteries

Ed Steinhoff

Active member
on another forum about pin-pointers i saw a discussion about harbor freight pin pointers and two different members said they were getting 3 inches With theirs, but only after throwing away the cheap battery and installing a $5.00 'good' battery!
does anyone here know anything about these batteries and where to get them! i would like to try them in a automax and see if i get anymore depth. Ed Steinhoff

If a battery is 9V. And the device is rated to use say 5mA, this is what will be drawn by the device with any kind of 9V battery. The only difference would be how long the battery lasts depending on if it was a regular, heavy duty or alkaline. If the battery was bad to begin with sure, your depth would suffer. But a brand new battery will not make a difference until it starts to reach it depletion. That is why you want to use alkaline.
I have a harbor freight pin pointer.

Could you please tell me what forum it was that you saw that?

yes, it was on the friendly detecting forum, in the metal detecting accesories colum, under the titile ' harbor frieght pinpointer performance review' Ed

having had both of those ppointers the only way to get any real depth is do as I did and purchase a detector pro pistol probe-have gotten 6" with it
