Sunspot Stealth 6.5 in dry sand

Does anyone have experience with the Sunspot Stealth 6.5 as a dry sand scoop. I have been searching for a good dry sand scoop that can hold up to water hunting. I have a Diamond Head that works great in the water but it is slow sifting dry sand. The Stealth 6.5 weighs about 4lbs and it looks like it might sift dry sand better the the Diamond Head.

cginn,
I have not found a water scoop that sifts dry sand well. For dry sand I use a RTG Supreme beach scoop (#702). It sifts very well. It will bend in the wet sand if you are not very careful.

If I am in the wet sand, I grab the water scoop and just dump the scoop full out on the sand and spread it out with my foot. Sweep the coil over the spread out stuff to find the target and pick it up with the scoop; minimal effort; then fill the hole and move to next target.

In the water, it sounds like you know what to do with the Diamond Head.
Cheers,

yes i have to agree..just dump it out and spread it over the graound, as to the dry sand,i just dont try to dig up the whole beach in one scoop.

If I am doing the shorline an up, its a spade shovel. If i'm in the drink...rtg scoop...7".

would probably sift dry sand quite well but it is still kind of heavy for dry sand. it will stand up to wet sand and water use and get the really small stuff that most of the other scoops let go right through.

here is a picture looking into my scoop, the smaller one has same hole pattern its just smaller in overall size.

I am still looking for a lightweight scoop, but I had a chance to go to the beach Sunday morning and try the Stealth 08 and Diamondhead scoops head to head. Both performed well and each has advantages. The Diamondhead weighs about 4 ounces less than the Stealth 08. I used a Back Saver grip on both. The Stealth 08 scoops a wider area and I had more one scoop recoveries than I did with the Diamondhead. The Diamondhead was easier to push into hard packed shell bottom. Both scoops are very well made. I like the fiberglass handle of the Diamondhead better than the wooden handle on the Stealth 08 although the wooden handle of the Stealth was more comfortable to carry on my shoulder. I also found that the 90

I haven't found any scoop that flushes dry sand quickly.
I've resigned myself to the fact that I have to use the water to flush the bucket.
I have a built in assist handle on my scoop shaft that allows me to easily carry the full bucket to the waterline and dip the heel of the bucket in about 2 inches of water. It flushes immediately with just a little shake. It's become a one handed operation and easy on the back and legs.

I use a SunSpot in the water or a RTG. For the dry sand you really need a wire basket scoop as it sifts the sand much quicker and easier than a drilled or punched scoop.
