Sunray X5 5 inch coil

DEEP-ON

New member
Can anyone share what kind max depth they are getting with the sunray 5 inch coil, I just bought one from Bart a few weeks ago, found a few silvers with it, but they were not very deep, as I was in the woods. They don't seem to sink as much in the woods, as in the parks, etc. The silver in the parks and such hase been mostly about 7 or 8 inches. Maybe someone has fooled around with one of these in a test garden, or hit some fairly deeps coins with this coil. I want to try some more TTF hunting, I would think the small coil would be the better coil to use, but I have been wondering how much depth I am giving up droping down in coil size???

i have one and have used it a little in a pounded park and have found indians at 7 inches plus some buff s so far no deep silver but i think thats a testiment to the stock coil being so good dennis

I've pulled coins out from 7 to 8 inches in very trashy yards.
I hit yards with the stock coil first the the sunray 5 in coil to get all of the hidden goodies.
I've pulled silver up with a nail beside the coin.

I have the little X 5 coil and it is very capable of depth in the seven to eight inch range. However, it naturally has a small foot print in its ability to search a large area, but when it is in a trashy search it is lazer like with the ability to seperate through all the crap! I do like this coil !

Thank you all for the info, like I had said in my post, I used it in the woods and liked it alot, it screamed on silver, but they were not that deep, a couple rosie's. It has it's place in the iron and high trash, has anyone used or really like the 6x8 sef coil? Probally cover a little bit more area and still give good seperation?

The 6X8 sef is a great coil. Very good separation and almost as deep as the stock 11" coil.

Agreed, Very good coil for high trash! The New Coiltek 6" might even be better!
