Sunray X-8 for the Explorer?

New to the forum and have an XS on the way. Been reading a downloaded owner's manual and already somewhat overwhelmed. Looks like some good tips and programs to be found on the forum here though, should help alot.

I was thinking that a smaller than stock coil might help with the learning process. Is that Sunray X-8 8" coil a good one? I'd like to get the best 8" coil avail. I'm looking at about $150, asking price.
OK deal do you think?

Looking forward to posting some good finds here in the near future.

Been using Garretts, Tesoros, Whites etc. since the mid nineties. First time to ever use an "Exploder" though. Supposed to be a deep machine, can't wait!

I was waiting for someone to answer that uses that coil but it seems to be slow here for now. Welcome and good luck with your Explorer, it is a very good detector with a lot of potential.
I don't have a 8" coil of any description for the Explorer but from what I have read it should be a good one and so is the ML 8". You may want to check out thru a search the 4.5 X 7, It seems to be very popular as well. I have the 5" Exc. coil and it does a very good job in trashy areas.

I have the Sunray X-8 and really like it. It helps the balance and weight issues of the Explorers. I can swing it all day and never feel the arm fatigue that the 10" coil gives me. The depth is real good as is the target separation. I highly recommend it.

It's a great coil. Around brush and in the woods it is a must.
