sunray or x pinpointer?

Which would you go for ? Used sunray for 115 or x pointer for 90..

TRX for $130

I don't like in-line probes. Weight, plus tied to that series of Whites machine. I say get the X-Pointer.

I have the X-Pointer and love it. Everything you could want including great depth (adjustable), lanyard, holster, 4 tip protectors and no falsing.

Depending on what you are putting it on. I really like the SunRay on a detector that has tone ID but not so much on a single tone detector. I had one on my DFX but tried it on my MXT and decided to let it go with the DFX when I sold it. I think people over emphasize the weight issue. I really couldn't tell that much of a difference. I have a X-Pointer and it does everything I want in a pinpointer but does interfere some with the MXT and M6. I just flip the compatability switch on my headphones if it gets to bad and problem solved. As long as I have the coil far enough away it's not bad.

I'm thinking about one for my MX-5 but tried one on the already poor balanced Etrac and hated it. I thought it was a little cumbersome to use also versus slipping the Propointer out of my finds pouch and retrieving target. The whites has much better balance so I may give one another try.

I have a SunRay DX-1 probe for my DFX,i have used it in the early day but in the end took it off and its basically just gathering dust,if you plan on keeping a detector for a long time duration then it could be seen as a good move, one problem that i had was after i switched it to the probe position i forgot to switch it back again into normal detecting mode after pinpointing.Would i buy another one after using a normal hand help probe then my answer would be 'NO'.

The x pointer does have alot of followers but i personally have never used one or plan on buying one either, must admit i like the Garrett PP as my main probe and have my old Whites BullsEye as a backup, have never had any trouble with any of my pinpointers prehaps its because i look after them rather than abuse them.

The x pointer does have some advantages over other probes as it works on the Pulse platform rather than a VLF platform and i would think it would work better in a high mineralized ground conditions better.

I am completely sold on the Sunray. I use a V3i and the Sunray will work in Discriminate Mode or Pin Point (all Metal). The depth I get will stick with any of the Hand Held Pin Pointers, but the biggest selling point is I can always hear it. It works through the speaker of the detector or the Headphones. Whites TRX is not as loud as a Garrett PP and at time I have trouble hearing it. Forget a Pistol Probe those have very little volume. Sitting in your Livingroom they are all loud enough, but next to a highway with a little wind, will make you appreciate the Sunray.
