sunray inline probe vs pro pointer

Who likes the garrett pro pointer vs the sunray in line probe?Idont know if the garrett goes deeper than the sunray or if the discrimination level of the detector matches the probe depending on what i have the detector set for? Will the tones of the garrett change as you get closer to the coin?Thank charlie

No it doesn't do any of that. Just speeds up as you get closer. Can supertune it to go 2-3 inches. Only advantage I can think of is that it lightens up your swinging arm. I like the Garrett PP. But I use 1-ear headphones. I guess I am just really used to it. Will try the inline next when/if the Garrett goes south.

I used to have the Sunray on a diffrent machine. I use the pro pointer with the ETrac now. I like the pro pointer better but will not go into detail why.

I like my Pro Pointer just fine, and have never used the Sunray, they say the Sunray is much better but I just don't want the extra weight, just an ounce or two on the Etrac can make a big difference,( for me anyway).

Hey I use both! I had the pro pointer when I used my Ace 250 then got the Sunray In Line when I got my E-Trac I find I use both, typically use Pro pointer first since it is very rugged and you can really dig the dirt in the hole I then will get my Sunray to confirm what target is, since pro pointer can only tell you its metal, the Sunray will give you more detail by looking at the screen Sunray is really nice when you have trash as well as a good target in same hole. If you have one I would not neccesarrily advise spending the money for the other one since both can do the job well.

Once I started using the PP, I liked the freedom in brush and rough terrain of not being tied to an umbilical cord. I had to rearrange my detector too many times in order to get to business. But again it depends on where and how you hunt. If I was working school yards or open terrain, I'd prefer the Sunray.

Does the sunray detect along the side like the PP? I like being able to use the side to scape the pile...

Yes, it does. The bottom, 1/4 of the probe can detect from my observation.

If you do a search, you will find LOTS and LOTS of discussion on this very subject in this and the Explorer forum.

There are Pro's and Con's to both. Read up and find out what's important to you.
