Sunray DX-1

Has anybody put hours on their Vision, (oops, Specturm V3), with the DX-1? If so, how's it seem to work? I'm a bit concerned with the 22.5 kHz. In therory it ought to be fine, I guess. My DX-1 is serial # 443, I know unit above 699 are compatible with the White's M-6which operates @ 14kHz and the DFX @ 3 and 15 kHz.

We are presently waiting for a V3 to test the DX-1 on to be sure it is compatible. As for the M-6 and DX-1 S/N-700 and forward - the only reason we put that on our website is because the connector cable is shorter on previous models and would not work on the M-6 due to the pole configuration which is different than the DFX & MXT. We lengthened the cable when the M-6 came out which was at serial number 700. It had nothing to do with the khz difference. All DFX/MXT coils are compatible with the M-6 so our probe was also. The issue with the V3 is the new software and third simultaneous frequency and whether the probe will operate at TX boost and high gain settings w/o overload. Even if it does it may not warrant a change to the probe - but officially we are not making any compatibility statements until we have had a chance to do our testing. When we know we will post our results on this forum, the Sun Ray forum and our Sun Ray website.

Thank you Ralph.

The remarks about kHz sure make sense. Since I posted the V3/DX-1 question last night, I have mounted the DX-1 from my DFX onto my Vision, (oops,V3 or whatever). Used it to pinpoint a couple finds this evening. Wasn't using Tx boost. The probe works fine, it seems. The 22 kHz appears to radiate just fine from the main coil. I pressed and held the trigger to the rear for depth, it's a bit of a nusiance to hold it while sweeping the hole and plug. The display is a bit different; maybe a greater amount of useful info from the 3 graphs, time will tell. You sure know when you're close to the target.

A new question: In the draft of the V3 manual,the terms signagraph and spectragraph are used. I know what a signagraph refers to. What's a spectragraph as it pertains to the V3?
Anybody?

I'll be looking forward to some V3/DX-1 pointers from the panel of experts at Sunray.

I am using the dx-1 on my vision and it seems to be working just fine...actually better than on the dfx because I am just usuing stock settings right now. On the dfx, I hopped it up so much it effected the dx-1

"I pressed and held the trigger to the rear for depth, it's a bit of a nusiance to hold it while sweeping the hole and plug."

There is a Better Way. Pull the trigger, press/hold ENTER, release the trigger, release ENTER... V will "lock" in Pinpoint mode (you will even see "Lock" on the screen). Funny thing is, when we discovered this "feature," AK told me it was a bug, and she would fix it pronto. Knowing that Sunray users would love to have pinpoint locking, I told her Don't Touch It! So now it's a feature. No extra charge.

Dang Carl,

You do think of everything - eventually. Is this in the Jimmy Sierra draft(s) of the manual(s)? If so, I haven't stumbled across it.

Maybe you could explain the difference between signagraph and spectragraph as mentioned in said draft of the Expert Manual..

Probably not in the draft. Spectragraph is just a new version of Signagraph that displays individual frequency info simultaneously, instead of as a composite.

There's the trick: in the Vision Instruction Manual;

in Section 4, part B. "After some field use..." paragraph 12, "To Pinpoint". It says; "Vision can be locked into the pinpoint mode, etc."
