hello all! it's been awhile since i posted, just being lazy, i reckon. i've got a lot of good stuff to post, too. two buddies and myself went to hanover county va. near the haw's shop / enon church battlefield. we've been there several times, so now the hits are getting scarcer. i found all eight of the three ringers in a small 6' x 6' area. the two shot sharps came later in the hunt. my buddy pete found the neat "metropolitan police, dc" button and asked me to post it up for him. he about fainted when he brushed some of the dirt away and saw the droop wing looking eagle! further cleaning revealed it for what it is - a washington dc cop button made by canfield bros. [baltimore] between 1834 and 1880. it seems odd that he would find such a button in with all the cw relics we've been digging in the area. he also found the sweet 1903 indian cent near the button. i went on to find a real nice flatbutton and a plain civilian type cuff button.
