Sundays Hunt.

Got out with some friends for a few hours Sunday. 1st pic is my share of the fired. The two bullets bottom right are a triangle base and 6 point swag base design. The 14" DD deep scan coil continued to impress me with dept, some of the fired were 14-16 inches deep. The second pic has a 1916 mercury dime, an unusual "lead soldier" and a unidentified brass piece. I thought I have seen a lead soldier posted here before somewhere, any thoughts on the brass piece? Gun part?

and great finds as uasual .Looks like that 14"coil is treating you right. The Bullet at bottom right(the one with the spokes in the base )Looks like one that was turned on a lathe. Northern manufacturer. You guys found a good camp to hunt.Keep at it. looks like it will produce for you.Have you found any signs of huts yet? Good luck hunting it................................................Ed

john, that piece of brass looks like the hilt from a hunting type knife.
you and mike really dug a ton of bullets!

but there is a chance for some. I don't think the soldier is "period" though. Its definately old though you can tell by the oxidation fo the lead.

I can see the lead soldier now that it's cleaned up.COOL!! Where did you sneak in that Mercury Dime at?Still think that piece is the butt of a rifle.H/H JOE

hav`nt used my 14 enough to see how it`s going to do but I like your input, sounds like it`s a winner...Bruce

John: re Bowie Knife guard... Check Crouch's book p.71 No. 4 looks just like yours. Shot bullets might be from practice area or skirmish. Hold out 5th bullet on 3rd row:(the one next to the nice plug cavity). Might be foreign... would like to look at it some day if it has 4 lands. Is bullet next to "swaged" a .58 French Triangle (T&T ,p.47)? Keep up the good work.
