Sundays Finds

Hit the park again this morning. I got a no date standing liberty quarter. (My 1st) I also got a 1908O Barber Dime and a 1915 Buffalo nickel. My brother in law found a cool USN Button and a brass 5 cents in trade token with the number 649 on the back of it. We also pulled about 10 wheat backs. Not a bad day for a few hrs of hunting.

Another nice haul you have there Frank. WTG!! Too bad that SLQ doesn't have a readable date on it. That trade token is really cool......:) Any ideas on how old it might be? Congratulations on all your neat finds. HH.

I am not sure but we are guessing the 1910-1930 time frame.
I just ID one of the other tokens he found. It was bent in half and it's was a Alabama 1 Tax token from the 1930's. This park has been great so far going back soon!!!!!

Hello Frank! The Token that was found is called a Maverick Token. These were used alot for Carnivals, Circus's, and other gaming activities. You are most likely right about the time era of when it was made. You would be lucky if you could get a buck for it but non the less, still a great find. Beats a common Wheat Penny! Very Nice Finds Frank. Sounds like this Park hasn't been hit hard with the Explorer's before and I hope your luck continues. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

Thanks for the info on the Token. The park has been hit hard by all types of detectors. They are rebuilding a dock at the park. To do this they are having to move allot of dirt form the water and land around it. The foreman of the job lets us hunt the work area. Great guy. we has also gotten a few old bottles out of the site. I hope others in the area don't read this. LOL
