Sundays finds - Victorian , Georgian and House of Plantagenet!

I went out on Sunday thanks to an invite from a member of DetectingWales.com. Had a great time and the weather Gods were pretty kind to us I made a few interetsing finds including a George III sixpence (1819), A Victoria shilling (Jubilee 1889) which were next to each other on a grassy knole! And no I didn't shoot JFK!

A couple of hours later I also found a cut half that is a Henry III (1216-1272) I was particularly pleased as this was the first cut half I have ever found and it was only 3-4 inches down on pasture!

A few other interesting finds including my first love token (he must have been skint as its a George II farthing!) I never find the thngs, where as my one mate finds them virtually every time we go out. Anyway its one to cross off. A couple of nice condition coppers and my weekly pidgeon rings! ( I always find these flaming things!)

The one thing that does have me stumped is the item in the top left hand of the total finds picture. Any ideas? Looks like it was suspended and theres qite a bit of wear to the suspension hoop. Update - Turned out to be 17th - 18th Century and used on a metal link chain to measure distances.

A great day for me as I managed to shake my 3 months and not a sniff of silver hex - then 3 in one day!

I think you had a superb day of hunting with your mates and the finds are quite varied if I may say so. The cut silver is really in good condition and I'm not sure which is the Love Token but would like to see a close up of it. Good Hunting to you and many more of them, looks as if the place may have a few more goodies in it not found yet.

A nice collection of history. I wouldn't mind going out there one time and swing some. We'll never get coins or relics that old over here in the States.

Boy, I bet you never know exactly what coins are going to pop up do you? You have so much history and different types of coinage under your feet there (meaning across the pond). I tell you though, next time I make the trip over, I'm gonna have swing a wand or I'll never forgive myself for missing the opportunity. Very nice finds Neil, thanks for sharing.

No problem Crispytoo! You are right with never knowing whats going to come out - I have been absently minded swinging away before now, all day just pulling out 1800's onwards copper coins and then suddnly out pops a medieval hammered coin and the next swing a 2nd Century Roam bronze coin!

It makes it enjoyable as litterally 2000+ years of coins and artefacts can turn up anywhere!

Diolch yn fawr
