Sunday's Field Hunts

Neal and I hooked up and hit some fields. The first one had very little iron, but did have two keepers and spoons, buttons and some aluminum trash. Neal started off the day by finding a large cent in the first five minutes! I headed deeper into the field and was not finding anything good until I found the seated quarter! This one has to be in the best shape of any I have found. There is no wear on it that I can see! The scan is large to show off the detail, sorry to the dial-up users.

In the next field I dug the two cent in the first five minutes (first signal I dug). Then I found three wheat backs and the merc. Neal found no coins in the second field so I was feeling a tad bad for him. I should have known better.

The third field had nothing and we only wasted around half an hour there.

We decided to hunt the fields of a nearby ghost town. Believe it or not - Neal dug a fat Indian in the first five minutes, followed by two more Indian heads. Then here he comes... big sh!!-eatin' grin on his face - "I think I topped your seated quarter", he says. You will have to read his post to see what he found. It was the coin of the day for sure! I only found a wheat cent, waaa. We had a blast!

Wow-a beautiful seated quarter and a two cent piece in the same day? Great finds! It's hard to believe you got beat out - I can't wait to see what your hunting partner found. HH

What a great hunt you and Neal had.Bet that quarter was a real loss for the person that lost it but what a great find for you. Congrats.
