Sunday night hunt....just shy of lame....

Went out again sunday night (05-14). Snuck out fer mother's day and was in the lane and solo by 830pm for the 1027pm -0.4L. Went to a different location than the night before to give it a whirl with the Mark II. Had 3 rings at this location around 2 weeks ago. It was target rich and the tide was way out. There had been a storm this afternoon and I was hoping for something to have gotten churned up. Was having a little trouble with audible target discrimination on the Mark II. The tide started coming in earlier than I expected and lighter weight targets were drifting out of the scoop, so I wasted a great deal of time digging junk. Not making excuses ya'll understand, it was just what was happening. Ended up with $.50 and a childs ring stamped mexico inside and sure looks silver, but I have not tested it yet. It has 3 stones in it green, black and teal. I was encouraged by finding it. Only finished 1/2 of the surf area digging all the trash. Had left the Excal at home and wished that I had brought it along (a good pirate woulda brought it), so that I at least could have taken the ferrous out of the equation. This would have saved me a great deal of time. I learned a lesson, always bring both units. Bailed around 1 am and I was frowning.

WTG GH! Making the beach a safer place to play for all of us. You should have brought the Excal and avoided some of the junk.
A bad day out hunting is still better than a good day at work.

We've had friends lose machines in the trunk, because people are watching, and wait until you are faaarrr, faaar away - then break in and help themselves!
I'm glad you bring your trash home - we have too many hunters who throw it back down, or out toward the water for the low-tide hunters to pick up.
