Sunday morning finds.

God I love it!!! I guess you're working a really trashy area here and still finding these gems. Are you using the 5" coil on these bad boys? If so, I wonder how deep your finding them? Just curious.:|

Hi beachguy
I'm using the Minelab 8" coil. It actually measures around 7" not sure exactly sure why they call it an 8". Most of the finds I've been posting lately have been 6" or less hung up in the trash. Occasionally one will pop out from around 8". I always hunt in all metal, manual sens. 16-18 with this coil.

Mine was really worn.

Your's looks like it just lost the date. Couple nice finds.
So did you remove the trash or leave it for some poor DFX user?

Bob

The bottom coin looks as if it's been scoured against something over time. Yes, it's interesting that the date is missing. Could be it was on a higher spot than the rest of the writting, when it was minted. A lot of the huys over here have been finding foreign coins, but I seem to be missing out on those! Hoping one day to get a few. Where I work, there's an old railway line running behind the workshop, and I've yet to take the detector to work, and give it a go there. Reckon there'll be a lot of trash, from the old cattle yards, and the current company leasing the land.

Thankyou, Rainy. I was curious about the depth, but the extra info. about the sens is great info too. I need to mess around with that manual sens some more. Every little bit helps with this stuff, and could make a difference in depth or whatever. I'm starting to get excited about this 8" coil. I only have the one that came with the Quatro, 10", or so, and I bought the 5" one from Kellyco. Yea, the 5 incher is great, but I'll bet it won't go as deep as your 8", plus, you can cover more ground with the 8" and still get more separation of targets than with a 10". I wanna get one now. Hey, Santa Claus, where the heck are ya???:| Thankyou again rainy, for sharing that valuable info. You know it's that kind of info that might make a difference for the rest of us (really speaking of me), poor slobs out here trying to find something really good like that. :|

Golden, you know where I'd like to go? We have some train tracks and stations around here too, but they're pretty much turned into a tourist trap, and I'm almost scared I'd get in trouble at the stations, but..... What about where the workmen worked and/or, took a break and leaned against some tree or post or something, and (MAYBE), lost some change or something. I know it's kind of a long shot, but what the heck, and also, I'm looking for an old area where they might have set up a camp or something in order to build a tressel or even like a "main camp thing" in order to lay down tracks in the days of old. Boy, we gotta be cunning on this thing I guess, but that's just a thought. I just wanted to add, that the historical society pictures of stuff like that might come in REAL, handy on that one.:|

but I'd pick your timing on that one. Where I work, there's no one about. Just me and the guys, who drive the log trucks. I've got ample opportunity to detect there, probably in my lunch hour, or after work. There are no train stations, just a line running pass the yard, but on the opposite side of the road, diagonally across from me, there's a race course too. And a huge area where people park their cars on grass. I reckon there would be a myriad of coins there hidden. Just got to go over there at some stage and detect it.

Yea, timing can be everything sometimes. There's a huge, almost famous tressel way out in the desert here. I'm definitly thinking about it. I't really hard to get to, but gee whiz, would it be my luck that the day I hike out there, the border patrol or someone in authority, is running around there int their four wheel vehicle. Like you say, timing can be everything. I'll be careful.
