Every time I tell myself I will only hunt one day over the weekend I usually end up hunting both. Yesterday was cool, last night temps got way down into the teens and it wasn't much warmer this morning. Decided a short trip to the bark chips was in order. Tons of cool loot. One awful incident. Of note:
1. .22 bullet
2. A jack
3. Jeweled Rhino Whatsit
4. Tons of buttons and zips
5. 2 Wheats. 1957D 1958 I have been hoping for wheats at all my old coin sites and find 2 within 10 minutes of each other at a 2 yr old grade school.
6. 90 coins for $7.13. I was wanting to get 100 coins but I was cut short. See story below if interested.
7. 14K gold 1.58 Gram Piece of a pendant or chain. Marked 14KT and Italy.

That was for the gold and that's how it's done.
Now for the story. Three young men decided they were going to shake me down or maybe just rob me. They were about 14-16 and not the same race as I am. They first asked for money and then demanded money. I asked them as nicely as I could to leave and displayed my digging tool which looks a lot like a big hunting knife. No effect at all. I took out my phone, dialed 911 and let them know I needed some help. No effect. I then told the operator I was carrying a concealed weapon and I let them know how they could identify me. That was a lie. They stopped following me. The operator told me to stay on the phone and when the teens began to move off I told her I did not have a gun. A few minutes later the cops pulled up and were of course more worried about my weapon than these misunderstood teens who were still in sight but pretty far away by now. When they figured out that I didn't have a gun, legal or otherwise, they went and got the kids who said they were just playing around. One of these "boys" was about 6' 3" 240. The cops ran the kids off and we chatted for a bit. I let them know I was pretty disappointed that they were allowed to leave and the cops said they hadn't committed a crime. Demanding money isn't a crime. Sheesh. I packed up and drove home. This is Sunday morning, small town, at an elementary school, at noon. I guess I will be getting a CCW permit.
Here's what I was thinking about before my little incident. I had just found a coin spill with 6 coins that totaled 55 cents. I came up with 4 ways to make this happen (one uses an obsolete coin.) I was really lost in thought and they were right up on me before I knew it. Jerks.
