Sunday Hunt...

I have been detecting with a new guy, Lonnie. He has been detecting for about four months. I kicked his ... last weekend with eight IH to his none. We took a lot of time where I would find a nice sounding deep signal, mark the spot and let Lonnie check it out. He is not using a ML. He was using a small coil but could not hear any of the signals I was digging. Put on the large (standard) coil and he could get them. About noon I had a couple wheats and one IH. I looked at Lonnie as we passed - his was the face of discouragement. I figured we would be done within the hour.

We moved to a different section of the park and I saw Lonnie dig a coin and closely check it out. He came over and did an Indian dance around me! He not only found his first IH, he ended up with five plus his first CW Store Card, and a pickers' token (all from a small area 30' x 30'). He was having a blast.

Almost as much fun as watching Lonnie was digging up these goodies (my take). The one smooth IH still has an 1880 date but cannot see in scan. It was a great day to metal detect!
