Sunday finds

Charles (Upstate NY)

Well-known member
I hit the old park to do some coin shooting Sunday and it seems I'm still stuck in relic mode from the North/South hunt. No coins but an 1830's hard times token, silver thimble, and a 1830's sportsman button (eagle pouncing on a rabbit). Hard times token is a Merchants Exchange Wall St. N York variety.

Those are really neat finds and I especially like the button. Question I have is how did you come up with a date on the button and is there any web site for Sportsmen Buttons. I have 2 that I have found and am still not finding any info but know they are old.

Great bunch of finds Charles. Keep up the good work and good luck!
Nice finds Charles I love that token. How'd you and Ed do at that north/south hunt?
We didn't do that well at the North/South hunt. I hear most of the guys that did were digging pits. Turns out the site had been group hunted 3-4 times before. But I had fun.

PS: I found all this stuff near the pool that gave up that 1790's large cent you found a while back. That park is getting pounded though, my pocket was empty after the first two hours.

I posted the button over on the relic forum of that other depot website. Those guys know all the buttons.

No not yet. I took it to the North/South hunt but couldn't bring myself to go bush whacking through the brush with it. It looks too pretty! lol I decided it would be a beach only machine.

I found the other website and will send a PM to him asking for some info. Thanks again and nice finds again.
