The city was getting ready to tear out sidewalk right next to an 1800's wooden church. I was hoping to get in before any fill was put in. Finally, walk came out late Saturday and they stopped right after pulling the walk. PERFECT !! The walk next to the church was asphalt and included an apron that extended from the curb right up to the church foundation. It ALL came up. I had visions of silver poppin' all over the place! Guess what; NOTHING !!!! I was so bummed! Couldn't believe it. (I know I was the only one to hit it).
Monday I hit a spot I had done years ago (back then I found Barbers, Mercs and a LC token). It's an old brick building that used to be a small library. My first target was a sterling thimble. Nice. I also found a "44 Washington, "24 & "43 mercs, an 1864 two-center and a '17 wheat..
Not a bad day.

Looks can be deceiving, and I will usually go into a new spot expecting to find nothing. That way I am pleasantly surprised if I do. Looks like you had a good hunt anyways, congrats !

Nice finds Bruce. Sorry that old church site was a bust. Maybe you should have gotten on your knees and said a little prayer.:clapping: Again, nice finds and nice pictures also. HH.

You never know where the good stuff will turn up. Very nice coins and thimble.
