Sunday 07/19/2009 XS Sovereign Hunt in an area park.

I used the little BBS 800 coil on the Sovereign for today's hunt. There are a lot of Sovereign users that just don't think this coil performs very well, including myself until after today's hunt. The park I hunted had an abundance of trash and the little 800 coil was great the way it separated the targets.A lot of the wheats I dug had a very strong clear signals at a depth from 7-9 inches no wiggle even required. The silver dime was next to a screw cap and could see the meter move from 178 to a nice clear 180.After I centered the coil over the 180 reading area the 1959 Dime was at a depth of about 6 inches in roots that had to be cut and yep even with the S1 probe I nicked the dime.I have always liked the Tornado 800 and was very surprised how similar these two coils are in performance.Anyway I found 8 wheats in the 40s and 50s and a silver Roosevelt. Nice hunting Ron, silver's always welcome in my pouch

The only 8" Sov coil I have is the Coinsearch, but I sure like it.

Brian,I was surprised how well this small coil worked with all the bad PR.I have use the Coinsearch coil and think this coil work great.Probably my favorite coil for all round general use is the 10 inch Tornado.HH Ron

Today's strategy at the same park 180 meter targets only trying to cherry pick for silver.Today's hunt yielded two silver dimes a 1964D and a 1954 Roosevelt also three wheat pennies all these targets where from 6-8 inches and had very strong signals. The screw cap in the photo was 180 on the meter also some were as deep as six inches. The park has promise and the Sovereign three silver coins for two hunts.HH Ron
