Sun Ray X1 probe

Bit the bullet and purchased the SunRay X1 probe. Hope to have it in a few days.

I decided to get it after seeing all the videos of people using it out in the field. Seems like a nice accessory and almost a necessity for fast coin retrieval so you can move on to the next dig.
The Automax V4 I am using really stinks as the probe has to practically touch the coin to get a reaction from the probe. It's really not that much help and finding the few coins I have found so far in the hole/plug has been a chore.
Hopefully the SunRay probe will make this task a little easier and enjoyable. :)

To those who have one of these probes, do you like it and think it's worth the money? Guess I should have asked this question before purchasing it.

EDIT: Sorry, I did not realize there is a Sun Ray section on these forums.

well worth it.Use the pimpoint functionality to identify EXACTLY where the target is

Yes it is a great asset. I was in the exact same boat you're in. The V4 would pinpoint if you were within an inch or so, BUT, it did not tell you if your were pointing a coin or nail in the hole and that makes a big difference. With the E-Trac it is possible to have both and there is no need to give up on the coin just because you've found a bad target. There is no other pinpointer out there that works with your detector like the Sunray. You'll grab for it like you do your carkeys.

Regards,

NebTrac

I have the sunray and the Garrett pro and I wont hunt without the sunray. You will wonder how you got along without it!

Great product and great service too! I broke my toggle switch after only a couple of days (due to my own stupidity!) and I sent it back to Iowa and had it fixed in less than a week turn around.

you will love it!!!
had to take a garrett pro pointer over to england to use in case it rained so i left the X-1 home.
the pro pointer is a solid item but having to turn it off and on is a pain. and also worrying that you put it back in your case and have not left it lying on the ground.
after just one time - you will never want to detect without the x-1 ever again.
but you WILL forget to flip the switch back to coil a few times here and there - so if you start detecting after using the probe and don't hear anything except a random beep - check to see that you flipped the switch over - i've walked 50 yards and not realized that i was still in probe mode - hahaha....

I put my cell phone on my belt in a way that when I swing the Etrac the probe picks up the cell phone so that I know that somethings up. I guess you could just say that I have walked more than 50 yards:wacko:

THE X-1...

I got real fortunate and ordered mine second hand. came with probe mounted on shaft, control box cover, and a quattro user manual (no use for that) $160 barely used. Definitely worth it.

All I can say is WOW. This thing works. pinpoint is real handy with it. To get the most depth you may have to crank the sens a little, but it does go deep.

If used properly, it can greatly reduce the chance for a scratched find, and is excellent for coins stuck in the side of the hole. It uses the same program you are running with the machine so it discriminates, ID's and uses the E-tracs tones and also no other batteries to fool with. Plus it's attached to the machine, so you don't forget it or lose it somewhere.

I got mine shortly after I got the E-trac so I can't remember what it was like with out it and I don't want to. :detecting:

Be sure to read the probe manual about the depth meter, it changes a little due to how small the coil is...

You made the best accessory purchase you could have made. Just don't forget to switch from probe to coil after you recover the target. I have'nt done that but I have read about it being done. I appoligize I have done that a few times. HH :minelab:
