Sun-Ray X1 probe Question

Hello all,
Just wondering if there is a difference in the very early models
compared to the newer version. I have the long white probe that
is probably from roughly 2003. I think the newer ones or later version
had a shorter length. Does the newer version out-perform the older version or what.
I was thinking of trading mine in with my Explorer 2 but was offered less because
I was told the newer version is much more desirable. I can't see there being
a difference in performance . My probe is about 10 or 11 years now and it still works
as good as the day I got her. These days though it sits in my closet as it won't
work with my Ctx 3030.Would love to hear the input on any performance differences.
Bottom line is I kept my Mint Explorer 2 and a good used X1 probe. I bought
this probe when I started out with my Explorer XS. Since they don't make them anymore
are they in high demand? Thanks for any input!!!

If I remeber correctly it was simply a design change but, I believe from what I was told the characteristics of the two are the same. I have the first version. I have had about four of them over the 14 years starting with my first XS in 2000.
Are they in high demand.
Well look at the Detector Accessory Forum there is a wanted add on there right now. That will awnser your question in that regard.

Obviously Ralph at Sun Ray can give you the full true storey on them. The older version was a bit long so i believe he just reduced the size for that purpose as well as weight. As far as are they in demand..... Ralph sold a lot of them and most of us who still use an Explorer prefer them over a hand held. Like you said Ralph stopped making them because the ML price got to high. The explorer was also discontinued.... might have been another reason. Personally i think they will always be in demand for serious hunters.
