Sun Ray X-8

May have found one of these Coils. I have just about every size Coil for the Etrac but a Medium size. I do have the stock Coil but I want another Medium size. Anybody have opinions on these?

Told by one Dealer these were Junk but could not find any bad experiences on the Net.

My experiences with Sun Ray have all been positive but never tried the Coils.

So that dealer does NOT sell Sunray products? It's all subjective...if I go out with ANY coil and find a bunch of stuff,I'm going to think it's a great coil, and it might be. But there's really little hard and fast scientific evidence that any other coil couldn't have found those things. Unless you have 2 identical machines tuned exactly the same but wearing different coils, there's really no way to know if your magic coil is,well...magical at all.
I've touted the Sunray stuff before so I'll save the spiel. As long as the one you're looking at is in proper working order I believe you will have very good success with it. To me,it's the perfect size coil for the E-series,as far as balance and swing weight goes. It's also, like you said,a mid sized coil that makes you feel that separation is good and coverage is acceptable. The X-8 to me is a coil that you CANNOT lose with,it has everything going for it. The build quality is high. There is no downside. Get it,use it,love it. And if you don't you can get your money back and sell it to me,I'd kind of like a backup should anything ever go wrong with mine.

I have the 15" WOT, 13" Ultimate, 11" stock, X-8 and X-5. X-8 is on my etrac 75% of the time. Love it. Might add the X-12 next. I believe it is lighter than the stock coil.

Since I do not have it in my hands this may be putting the cart before the Horse but I may have found a new Sun Ray X-8. A very respected Dealer thinks he may have found one. The two reviews above coupled with my past experiences with anything Sun Ray is why I am looking so hard to find one. Ralph really needs to train some help and get his stuff back on the market.

I have a lot of experience with Sunray X-8 coil and can say it is a very good coil. I have pulled coins @ 8 inches with it and it has very good sensitivity.
It was a very good fairgrounds coil for me plus it is easier to swing.

That dealer that told you the Sunray X-8's are junk either doesn't know what he is talking about--or--wants to steer you in a direction to buy something else.------The X-8's are the best mid-size coils for the Explorers/Etracs on the market--bar none!---------------Del

I absolutely agree that though I don't know Ralph or his business,I own 4 of his products and they are all fabulous. While I already have an X-1 probe I know there are ALL kinds of people out there who would pay 250+ even if it meant having to send in the upper shaft to be modded. I'm not sure if there are patents involved that are getting in the way or there isn't enough qualified help in that field that could be trained correctly. I know he made probes for many different brands but the real hot ones are for the Minelabs!
We just never can know what a guys personal interests are but there'd be a lot of new AND long time E-series users that would be happy as hell if he was able to get things moving again. Time may tell....

I am told that Ralph is ill.

That sucks bad. By just doing some quick searching I also understand he's a long time UFO investigator for his area, which is very interesting! And,there have been a few close members of his family who have passed within the last couple of years. According to what I've found he is in his late 60s,maybe early 70s so he just may be out of the game. If he passed on his designs and knowledge to a new generation it may well help to develop some different technology altogether, though it may not be his thing anymore. One things for sure,IMO....his coils are out of this world!

I love my X-8. I get excellent depth and target separation with it. Got a 12-40 signal a few months ago. Just a few inches from a sidewalk in a sidewalk strip next to a private yard I was working on. The depth was initially shown at about 7 inches. Couldn't find the target with the X-1 probe when I first checked. Had to dig down another 5 inches until I found it, a worn 1908 Barber Dime. The dirt clump with the dime in it came from over 11 inches deep. Impressive for an 8 inch coil. I've got the X-12, X-8, X-5 and X-1 probe for my E-trac. Love Sun Ray products. Thanks Ralph!

The SunRay Stealth X-8 is a fantastic coil - it's on my E-Trac at least 90% of the time.
It's the perfect mid sized coil - it's small enough to separate the good targets in iron and large enough to give good ground coverage and depth !

The Sun Ray X8 ......X5...and X12 are all fantastic coils. They are all very well built with deeeep strong signal strength, I will never give mine up !!! Sun Ray makes a quality products IMO !!!!

I will never sell my E-trac or my x-1 probe and x-5 coil. This machine always come through when others do not. If U love silver like I do it is the machine.
