Sun ray apparently discontinued the x-1 probe? Do these probes really make a huge difference? Are used probes worth the effort to buy off ebay?

A list of why I love my X-1.
1. Does not interfere with machine
2. Targets ID the same as with regular coil
3. No extra batteries to worry about
4. It is mounted to machine so you will not forget to bring it.
5. Good depth (3-4 inches)
What I do not like about my X-1
1. Can not use with any other detectors (unless you have more than one of the exact same brand. Example two Minelab Explorers)
2. Added about 2 pounds to already hefty Explorer II
What I would add to X-1 if I could
1. Some kind of alarm/notification letting you know the switch is in probe every 2 minutes. A beep in the headphones or something. I have left mine in probe numerous times and began swinging again. 5-10 minutes of silence would clue me in that something was wrong. I always dreaded looking down and seeing the switch still in probe.

so even when in probe setting it still has the threshold sound?
