SUN RAY PROHEADPHONES

TomB

New member
In August Sun Ray Detector Electronics of Haxeton, In. {www.sunraydetector.com} provided a set of SUN RAY PRO headphones as a prise.
I was the winner of the headphones so I thought it was only fair that I test the headphones and report my findings.
Pryor to winning the headphones I was using a pair of Gray Ghost headphones on my X-Terra-70. The Gray Ghost headphones have proving to be very good headphones.
I have used the SunRay Pro head phones on four different hunts. I was very pleased with their performance. My hearing
is very poor in my left ear and not so good in my right:huh: The adjustable sound control has proving to be very helpful.
I heard some very faint signals that I might have otherwise missed. The tone quality is quite good and the headphones are very comfortable I would have no problem recommending SunRay Headphones.

Thanks
TomB

oops!

They are indeed very good earphones! I am glad to hear that you like them. I use a pair and enjoy them also, Beale.

I have used a pair for some time now and generally agree with the above comment that they are a good set of headphones. However, I dislike the "flip" switch for on/off as I often bump it to the off position. I have written on the ear piece in white paint pen "On" and "off" so that I can see at a glance when they are "on". I originally chose these headphones because (at the time) they were one of the few that had a curly cord. I have used them frequently over the years and they have survived some rough handling.

I do not own either one but I did some research. The very top of the line 150 ohm phones have both mono/stereo switch and a limiter switch on/off(limiter on for coin shooting and off for prospecting as I gather).

Some phones have a fixed limiter. Most models have of them set "on" but the gold prospecting phones like Gray Ghost Nugget Busters are set at "off", permanently. I prefer a switch because I do both coin and gold hunting.

Gray Ghost Ultimate has one volume control but the SUN RAY PRO "Gold" has 2 volume controls. I think the Killer "B" (Hornet and Wasp) have 2 as well.

I think 2 volume controls are better for bad hearing in one ear.

As to which phones are the very best--Gray Ghost, SunRay, or Killer "B". I do not know, maybe someone else an answer that ??

(Maybe the best one has the best limiter? Gray Ghost advertise: "Our special limiter circuit gives you a smooth reduction at excess volume levels, not like our imitators
