Hello to all . Would like to know if anyone has used a sun ray probe on there gti 2500?,And is it good for locating small gold nuggets?.if so how small of pieces can it find.Sure thinking about getting a sun-ray sure sounds like a time saver!!. Thank you all for your time jeff in colorado (with cabin fever)

Read my field test at the top of the page. I use one on my 250 and it is extremely sensitive. You can't go wrong with one. It's like having a second coil hooked up to your detector and utilizes all your detector's functions just like your regular coil does.

I have one, but it quit on me after two weeks. Not all is lost, however- I talked to Ralph at Sun-Ray and it is being repaired as we speak. I'm not sure what happened- I kept getting the "overload" sound when I switched over.

While it worked, it worked pretty well, though. Would I have picked up nuggets with it? I don't know- never tried.

Maybe? Probably, I would think.

I know the Tinytec probes can find extremely tiny stuff like nuggets. But I've had two of those quit on me.

Let's face it- either I am probe-jinxed or too hard on my equipment. (Maybe a little of both).

I am looking forward to getting my Sun-Ray back and using it again. It certainly is a timesaver.

Come to think of it, I have found tiny, BB-sized targets with my Garrett machines alone, without having any kind of probe. The probe sure makes them easier to track down, though!

I would not be at all surprised if the Sun-Ray could pick up nuggets, assuming the settings on the detector were correct for such an application.

Mine does the same thing now. I hadn't used it a a few months, and when I batteried up the 1500 for a hunt, OVERLOAD on the Sunray. Guess I'll box it up and send it off. Do you have a price for repair yet??

It is the greatest thing since cotton-candy. I have one on my 2500 and my EXP II as well. Saves time on digging, especially deep targets. Well worth the expense. HH...Jesse.

They were really nice about it- Ralph at Sun-Ray sent me a PM saying they would fix it as a warranty repair, even though I might not have registered mine when I got it, and I waited around for the better part of a year before doing anything about it. He quoted me fifteen bucks for return shipping. I don't have it back yet but I hope to see it soon. I will let you know how it goes.

Actually, needing advice about the problem is the reason I joined this forum. Nobody seemed to have any explanation- you're the only other one I have heard of with the same problem. Perhaps somebody with more technical knowledge will be able to figure out why we had this difficulty.

thank you all for your input waitting for the taxes to come in a well get me a sun-ray hope it works !!

Well, I got mine back, so here's belated thanks to Ralph and the Sun-Ray folks.

I still don't have any idea what caused the "overload" problem. They just sent me a new one as a replacement.
