Summer Clad Cash-out

Well, it was a slower summer than years previous for me, but between the shipment of gold and silver on it's way to Midwest, the clad I just cashed out, and the nice things that my wife and daughter got and the few things I sold, I did pretty well overall.

Cashed the clad out today...strictly from the beach from this Summer, came out to $150. Whole lotta digging!

354 quarters
405 dimes
232 nickels
892 pennies

That's what the machine didn't reject, which was 80 crusty pennies, some foreign coins, some wheaties, and a few silver coins that slipped by me.

Here's my plastic treasure chest with 15 LBS. of clad in it, prior to cashing in:

Here's the stuff the machine didn't want:

Get a rock tumbler for those crappy zinc pennies.........it works well for me when i use the coinstar on my crappy ones.

Hey, as I've said before...I dig 'em as a public service. Glad to do it. I figure if I'm gonna be there I might as well get them. Simple fact is that the penny is the most frequently dropped coin. Man, I wish they would get rid of them and that those dollar coins would TAKE OFF! Heh...come to think of it, when was the last time anybody even SAW one of those "new" dollar coins??? It's like they were a big novelty for a week or so and then they just disappeared from the face of the Earth. They're even more stealth than the Susan B's or the Sako-jemima's!

Mike sounds like you had a nice lode of clad for the season. Do you just dump the coins into the coinstar uncleaned and hope for the best? Sounds like a lot lower maintenance than tumbling the whole lot and rolling them, but you have to give them a cut, huh? I think my credit union, has such a machine, but at another brach, than mine, may try it. The pennies, with crust I know are a pain-in-the-butt, but lemme tell ya, they pay too and we dig 'em all here. We tumble them and roll them and the bank pays us for them. Some are so bad they are holed! They said, as long as they are rolled, they accept them, Because the mint picks them up for inspection anyway. How bout tem apples!

Yeah, I know you can roll them and they'll take 'em. But I get so many of them to go in the machine that I usually toss the ones that don't because they're pretty bad. Yeah, I usually wash all the money when I find it and toss it in the big treasure chest and dump it all into the Coinstar when I get a bunch massed up. This is the first time I think I only cashed it one time for the summer...usually I cash it out about every $40 or $50. It's all good, as they say.
