Suggestions GTA1000 Ultra or GTAx 1250

I have both and haven't used the 1250 enough yet to make a clear decision.
I'm thinking of selling one of them. The 1000 has done me good for over a year and has a lot of nice features I haven't seen on the 1250. Given the 1250 being a 'newer' machine with better electronics (and fewer bells and whistles) it should be better for deeper coins that maybe the 1000 is missing.
Looking for opinions, suggestions, etc. from those who know these machines. The 1250 does have the same coil size as the 1000 and has the smaller coil too.
Sure hate to part with either of them but it appears if I am going to get to try the ACE 250 I have to sell one to buy the other (darned profit sharing check isn't coming through this year <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry"> )

Hi Pete ,i have the 1000 PM but do not have the 1250. I think the only feature the 1000 has over the 1250 that i can see is the surface elimination. The Garrett 2004 book does not list this feature on the 1250. The 1250 does have the adjusable frequency ,volume and backlit LCD. It also can use the PROformance coils along with all the new crossfire II coils. I really love my 1000 but if i had both and really had to give one up ,it would be the 1000. The 1250 has a few more features that are nice to have. Also keep in mind what you really need out there. I have decided to add the 250 later on when i have the money. The 250 is a nice little machine i guess from what all are saying and it would be a great ADDITION. My 2500 and 1000 do EXC. so i can wait. There`s my nickels worth ,hope this helps.

Only other feature - since re-looking the two over is that the 1000 for sound has Standard, Belltone and Bi-level whereas the 1250 shows Belltone on/off (guess this is the default setting (Belltone) and has a Tri-level response on varies targets.
This is a feature I am not used to - Standard is something I have been used to.
The 1250 also has Salt Elimination. With fresh waters in Michigan I don't see much need for that except for parking lots that have been over-salted to melt ice and then plowed into a pile at the edges of the parking lots.
The loss of Surface Elimination by selling the 1000 is not a major concern as even the top 2 inches still contain items to be recovered.
Just need more learning time with the 1250 to get used to the Tri-level Belltone sound. (The manual didn't say what you get when you shut off Belltone. So maybe it has Standard in the non-Belltone mode). Again a matter of more time learning the different machine.
Thanks for the input. I think the 1000 will be on eBay for sale in a few days (sure gonna miss this good friend of mine).
