Suggestions For Transporting E-Trac On A Bicycle

E-TREC-Virginia

I have several hunting spots that I cannot access by car and with my medical issues, impossible for me to get to by foot. I really want to hunt them and I'm thinking about riding my bicycle to them. My concern is that the rough conditions will toss my E-Trac around and damage it. I have rear panniers on my bike which I can put the E-Trac in and all my detecting accessories. Stuffing the bags with foam rubber or towels should do the trick, but I wanted to see if any you guy/gals ride your bike to your hunting spots and what you do to secure your machine.

Hi Steve,

I simply break down my machine, wrap the parts in a towel, and put them in a smallish backpack. It's a much smoother ride than on panniers, unless you've got some good shocks.

I'd duct tape that sucker on my handle bars and "swing" while 'cyclin'!!!....I know I'm no help at all. You'll get it figured out! Just remember to show us pictures of the finds!

I don't own a car in Canada, and always take my detectors to hunts on my bicycle. I break it in 2 and stick it in my big Ortlieb courier bag. It sticks out the tip a bit, but I don't mind.

Hi Ray - Hope things are well. Good idea. I think my panniers have straps and can double as back packs. Have you've been out lately? I'm up for another hunt if you want to get together again sometime.

Hi NebTrac - you know you could rig something like that, but it would definitely go against the "low and slow" approach. Would have to call it the "Fast and Crash" approach.

How do you like your Ortlieb bag? Looks nice and functional. I looked at them before I bought my Arkel T-42's.

I took mine out in the desert on my mini bike. I just took it apart and put it in the knap sack that came with it. My E-trac was fine, lost the exhaust pipe on the tote gote.

The Orlieb is really strong and comfortable - I have had it for years. It is basically a giant pouch with nothing hanging off the sides like zippers, strings, or anything and I like that.

The BOB trailer is a item to consider, single wheel able to go over bumpy terrain
