Suggestions for a new detector?

kc in wv

I have a Whites Eagle Spectrum that I have really enjoyed. I like the way it pinpoints, the depth that it detects, the readouts that I can interpret for the situation, and the programs that I can tweak to suit the situation.

The detector is starting to give me some problems and I am thinking of replacing it with something newer.

Any suggestions on a detector that will be similar or better?

I have used a MXT for a month and do not like it as much as the Eagle Spectrum

Might be you could just send it in and have it service? If you like everything about it, why replace it??

Get in touch with White's Electronics in Sweet Home, Oregon. It has best repair service, might not cost you anything if delivered directly, if you live near there.

If the MXT isn't your thing and you liked the eagle spectrum, thin I would suggest look for a very clean used XLT E series. Great machine and you will fill right at home using it. And unlike the Eagle, the XLT has the SL housing and uses the 8-AA batteries. Anyhow just a thought. You could try the V3i or VX3. I had the VX3, got rid of it and kept the XLT.

I have considered the XLT series and I will probably send the other back for service also. I have found that once you know your detectors, you sometimes need that extra detector because one will handle a situation better than the other.

The MX5 may be worth consideration. Turn it on and go, back lit, and you can put it in suspend mode with one touch. Pin point is right on. Best bang for the buck. Even if only as a second detector. More I use more I go to it over my exterra 705. Each has a place though.

I just got my MX5 last week and really liking it so far. Lighter than the metal models and very deep. I have a SEF 10X12 on mine. I have pulled 5 coins out between 9-10.5" deep. I really like the standbye feature when you put the detector down to dig.
