Suggested sensitivity for the 1270?

Aaron

Well-known member
I recently purchased a used 1270 and I like it alot. I dont have too much time on it yet.. however, Im wondering what those who have one normally run the sensitivity at? I was running it almost all the way to 10 yesterday at a park, with only a little chatter, then this evening at another park I was getting falsing all over the place even with as low as 5. I know this is a powerful machine, but Im wondering if its like my CZ's where you usually only need to run them around 4-5.
Thanks and HH!

yes in most parks run about 4-5 on sens and i'm sure shooter will chime in on this to he is the master of these 1270, i run mine in all metal mode so far and set up disc that way and have had great results went to a tot lot and cut sens to about 2 and still picking up stuff deeper than the wood chip covering! i'm liking it the only thing i wish was that the disc worked a little better than it does but i'm learning to there are deep for sure i would put it up against the tesoro tejon any day!

When you run into chatter at high sensitivity settings try turning the volume control down to 3. You will have to re-adjust your headphones to compensate but, this will eliminate the noise in most cases.

That's great information jackpine

The sensitivity control on the 1270 is mostly threshold based IMO. In other words, on coin sized targets reducing the sens does not lose much if any depth just makes the target sound weaker. For the small stuff turn up the sens and reduce the disc setting for best results. For beach/shallow water hunting I usually use (in less trashy areas) iron disc 4-5 which makes nails and bobby pins double beep and as high a sensitivity setting as possible. It's suprising how deep and sensitive the 1270 is on small gold jewelry with those settings.

Thanks a lot jackpine! I wasn't aware of those details. HH! Aaron
