Success with the 18.75 elliptical and 6 in DD coils

Finally got some detecting time in. One of the local beaches lost about a foot of sand during a storm and it seemed a good opportunity to go over an area I had already detected.
Decided to use the 18.75 elliptical and the following settings: prospecting mode & AM, sensitivity at 25 , this was just stable with a little bit of ground noise. The first picture shows the result, some Australian predecimal coins and the back 2 rows are clad.
Went out again the following day with the six inch coil, using the same settings and going over the same bit of beach. The second picture shows the result. The first 4 rows are Australian predecimal and the last 2 rows are clad.
Some of the coins have been cleaned and the rest are as found
I generally use the elliptical all the time, but now I

Good finds, Crymo! I like the 18.75 eliptical DD coil...it's been very good to me. Great to get those pre-decimals. Decimal coins are good too...last I heard they were worth more than their face value owing to their copper content (we dont have clad out here, so far, all our coins are metal all the way through, albeit alloyed).

Great finds, Crymo, I was thinking of buying the 18.75 elliptical DD coil for my X-50 as I also have the 6" DD, but after seeing the extra finds that you made might just leave the 6" on all the time.

Had a bit of a hunt this afternoon and found a Aussy 10 cent over on this side of the ditch in a playground (do you want it back ?)

I would say both coils did a very good job at finding the goodies and also jumping on a opportunity like that sure paid off.

Nice job cymro. Iam curious to know. Did you use the "Beach" mode feature in ground balance?

Yes I used beach mode, this means you also have to be in be in all metal. It is not possible on the X70 to have beach mode and any IM segments activated.
The area I was detecting varied from dry sand to wet sand so I also had tracking on.

Hope this helps

Dave

I used prospecting mode in this instance because I wanted to get as deep as I could having already detected the area before. I have outlined the settings I used in the original post.

My preference up to now has been for the HF elliptical.

cheers
