Stupid question. Why do some of you put magnets in a sand scoop?

Catches all those bobby pins that slither through the holes
plus nails, small screws junk chains and jewelery etc.........

Brilliant! I never knew that, but that is a great idea. I will try that this summer on vacation.
Thanks guys

BOTTLE CAPS and a lot of those iffy targets end up having iron on them.

i put i 2.5 inch round donut shaped magnet in the middle of the bottom of my 6 inch sand scoop--also put a screening material in first but just at the bottom area it helps hold the little goodies in your scoop

Hi arclyt,
You should remember one important thing.
The only stupid question is the question that does not get asked.

I made myself a magnet scoop of my own. I detached the magnetic core of an old speaker, covered it with a very thin layer of silicone, and tied a 30 meter long flexible nylon wire to it. I'm gonna try metal coin hunting alongside the docks in my city. the water is about 12 to 15 meters deep and the bottom might produce some interesting finds.

The magnets catch the iron in the basket.
i can tell often if the target was recovered as an iron target bycatching it before it falls through the scoop.
Using a pi machine the visual is important for me otherwise i might have to recheck the target and hole again. Bobby pinsand all that, lol.

Thanks for the info. I plan to use my super strong magnet I purchased from Steve Spangler Science in my scoop. You can hardly pull it off of a fridge.

I put a magnet from an Old Micorwave in a Plastic Bag in my scoop. It holds alot of Fish Hooks when I find the fishing Leader attached with the weight and Hook.

I also made comb on the inside of my scoop the catch chains.

For all you old farm boys, get a cow magnet and put that in your scoop. If you do not know what a cow magnet is, just google (cow magnet) on the internet.

All those guys are wrong, it's so when you dig up a magnet the opposite poles pushes the other magnet right out of the scoop!!
