I see on your photos it says things like NUT or my NUT for the day...what is NUT ???(newbie to the site)

I believe he is using the term in the context of a squirrel, gathering his nut or nuts. As in his "haul" for the day. "Here's the nut..."

Translation: Here's a picture of the crap I found.

Other terms:

Nitro - Junk jewelry, though when you first see it, you think it's the real deal and for a moment you have to grab for the nitro...as in having a heart attack.

Diggers - Any fine and nubile members of the female persuasion who are willing to wrap their hands around Max's scoop and pose for the camera.

Surflane - The wet sand at low tide

Surf Church - Sunday morning mass in the surflane...sacrificing to the surfgod

Bricks - Relentlessly pounding surf, usually heavy with whitecaps. "Rough as bricks in the lane today..." Or a picture of the surf with the caption "Bricks..."

There's more...I'm sure a few others can add one or two.

I too, often wondered what Nitro stood for. Thanks .
I think there is another one CZ. I have seen it appear several times relating to gems in the jewelry.
Max's pictures tell a story all by themselves.Thank you Max.Hope you got your camera working.....I do believe I read something about a mishap.

Hey Mike, I'm glad you gave the definition of those detecting terms. Like DaleW, I don't always know what they mean, and thought it idiotic to ask. But then, I'm an Aussie far far away, with terms of our own......!
Angela:shrug::)

Actually, that one isn't his. CZ stands for "Cubic Zirconia" which is a fake but often attractive gemstone substitute. Usually diamonds, it also comes in other colors and substitutes for other stones as well.

Since you have such a good start Mike, let's keep it going, combine them and make a glossary we can post when requested. Here's another as I understand it:

Bling - an elaborately diamond or gem studded jewelry find.

I think bling can refer to ANY jewelry, particularly gold. And most definitely gold AND diamonds, for sure.

Bling-Bling - Includes any and all gold and diamond jewelry, with emphasis on diamond jewelry in particular but also strongly tied to gold chains and MULTIPLE gold chains, AKA "Mr. T starter-kits". :)

Thanks Mike for all the explanations.
And always thought bling bling was the sound that a cash register made or is that supposed to be Cah ching. lol

I put down my gun in 94',used to love getting out on the prairie before dawn, Beautiful! Too many Liberal politicians and their gun laws, too many guys drinking till 2 am and hunting at 4 am (not kewl).
Amazing to hear 6,000 wild geese greeting the dawn on a 1 acre sluice in Saskatchewan.
Nuf Said,
