Stupid F-75 Ground Balance Question.....

David_M

I've read the instructions several times but they still seem a bit ambiguous to me. Am I correct with the following? I find an area of ground that is free of metal signals. I then press the trigger forward and hold it. Next I move the coil up and down while still holding the trigger forward. A two digit number appears (well actually it appears when I first press the trigger forward) and I pump the machine up and down until what? As long as "can't GB" doesn't appear in tiny letters does that mean I've balanced it. Is there no confirmation message that GB was successful?
Thanks for any help.

your ears. That is when you start pumping the coil while pushing the trigger forward, you will hear the threshold change (not in pitch but how it reacts as you approach the ground) when it gets balanced in fast grab. Usually providing there is no metal where you're trying to balance, it should complete the balancing somewhere between 2 to four pumps of the coil. Like I said, you HEAR it when it makes the adjustment and at the same time, the new numeric phase value of the ground will be displayed.

I'm confused like David. When I fastgrab in "All Metal Motion"
my F 75 shows no change in coil pumping period.

I have to manual GB instead, reads 40 in my soil.....what am I missing??

Hi Andy Yes that is understood. My soil varies here in So. MN from mid forties to low sixties. No matter when manual balanced if fastgrab the F75 only says pump coil then can't GB no #'s.

This is in a non-metal area rural area. I don't mind manually GB'ing
still love my F75. :bouncy:

Thanks

Just pump in fastgrab until the numbers settle down to one and hold, then release the trigger. Your only waiting for a stable number setting.

it's interesting to see the different mineralization readings for F75 users throughout the world. My area is usually 60's- 70's which isn't all that terrible to work through....

Bill

if you turn down all metal sensitivity would it "fastgrab" then ?
Maybe your ground reflects too much with higher all metal setting and that could cause the fastgrab not to work right.
Just a thought.....

If the ground balance reading is still below #40, you would not be able to use Fast Grab method of ground balancing. This would be regardless of sensitivity settings.

There is a reason it was designed that way. Here is what the manual states.
In order to avoid locking onto metal, the computer, (inside the detector), will not balance to ground where the GB setting is less than 40

Just curious as to what the bad ground areas read on the T2/F-75 meter.

Thanks Tom

Thanks for the info Brad. What do you get in your area? Around here its .01 - .03. with phase readings of mid 60's to upper 70's on Pauls T2 I'm trying out.

Later Tom

but we do have a few areas that are a lot worse.
